The first step in getting a mortgage is getting a pre-approval. During this process you will complete a mortgage application and verifiy your credit income, assets, and liabilities. Getting a pre-approval is a highly recommended step BEFORE you start looking for a home. It helps by letting you know what the maximum is you can purchase a home for, puts you into a stronger position with a seller, and it usually helps you close on your new home quicker.
You will need the following items when you meet with your loan officer:
1. W-2 (2 years) or 1040's
2. Last 30 day paystubs
3. Name/Address of Landlord/Mortgage
4. Employer and two year history
5. Bank names, Account Numbers
6. Last 3 month bank statements
7. Open Loan Information
8. Copy of Driver's License
9. Copy of Social Security Card
10. Info on any real estate owned
